Bog turtles and DBTs are protected species in Connecticut.

Both are protected under Regulation 26-66-14a:
No open season for taking bog turtles, wood turtles, DBTs, and eastern box turtles.
Effective 1/1/93, amended 4/17/05 to include bog turtles, which used to have an open season

DBTs are protected under Regulation 26-66-14d:
DBTs can only be taken between August 1st and April 30th
Carapace length of taken animals must be between 4-7 inches
DBTs may only be taken by hand, dip net, seine net, or live traps
Possession of DBTs is limited to 5
Eggs may not be taken from the wild.
