Section 880 - Taking of Reptiles & Amphibians
880.10 - Unlawful to take, possess, buy, sell, offer to buy or sell, or barter any reptile, their eggs or parts taken from the wild in IL for commercial purposes
880.20 - a) Only those with a valid sport fishing or Sportsmen's Combination License may take or attempt to take turtles; b) Turtles may be taken only by hand, hooke and line, or landing net; e) No one may take or possess any endangered or threatened species
880.30 - Daily catch limit for reptiles is 8/species. Possession limit is 16/ species
880.40 - CB offspring, not intended for commercial purposes, are exempt from the possession limit for 90 days
880.60 - Taking is prohibited in the LaRue-Pine Hills/Otter Pond Research Area in Union County
Section 1010 - Endangered & Threatened Species

The following are endangered species
- Alligator Snapper (Macrochelys temminckii)
- Illinois Mud (Kinosternon flavescens)
- Spotted (Clemmys guttata)
- River Cooter (Pseudemys concinna)
The following are threatened species
- Blandings" (Emydoidea blandingii)
Section 1070 - Possession of Endangered and Threatened Species
1070.20 - a) Unlawful to take, possess, transport, purchase, or dispose of any endangered or threatened species without a permit; f) Unlawful to possess, purchase, or dispose of any endangered or threatened species which was in the possession of the person before 5/1/1973, or was acquired legally in another state, without a permit; g) Unlawfult to propogate or attempt to propogate any endangered or threatened species without a permit for that specific activity; i) Unlawful to possess an endangered or threatened species for rehabilitation for more than 90 days, without a permit.
