Recreational Regulations
  • Turtle traps must be checked daily
  • Traps must be above the water and marked "turtle trap"
  • Possession of finfish prohibited
  • Cannot flush out turtles or destroy natural cover
  • Firearms prohibited
  • Alligator Snapper
  • No size limit
  • Bag limit = 1/day/person or vehicle
  • DBT
  • Cannot be taken by trap
  • Cannot be taken between April 15 and June 15
  • Must be at least 6 inches, carapace length
  • Eggs may not be taken, except RES eggs
  • Boxies
  • No more that 4 of Terrapene may be possessed
  • Bag limit - 2/day
  • Threatened and endangered species may not be taken
     

Commercial Regulations

  • One engaging in sale or trade of native species must have either
  • Reptile & Amphibian Collector License, or
  • Reptile & Amphibian Wholesaler/Retail Dealer License
  • Acquiring native turtles for sale, shipping, transport requires a Reptile & Amphibian Wholesaler/Retail Dealer

  • Cannot remove nesting or tending animals
  • Alligator Snapper
  • Cannot be taken for commerce or sold
  • DBT (same as recreational regs)
  • Boxies may not be sold commercially
